The Story behind the Shot:

We knew that a leopard named Georgina had two small cubs, but they were very shy: only one guide managed to catch a glimpse of them a week before, but we were hopeful we’d find them. So when we found Georgina on a tree with a warthog kill, we waited with her in hopes she’d lead us to her cubs. And indeed, after a few hours, she climbed down the tree. Our guide suggested we take that as an opportunity to have breakfast. Needless to say we declined his offer, and directed him instead to follow Georgina while giving her space. Sure enough, she walked to the cubs’ hiding place and led them out of the bushes towards the kill. She walked with pride and confidence, while her cubs behaved like two undercover soldiers, crawling low to the ground and running from bush to bush so we won’t see them. Eventually she sat down on a rock, and one by one the cubs came to sit next to her. She didn’t feel threatened by us, so she showed us her back, but the cubs were so shy that we only got to see them clearly for no more than a couple of minutes.
