Join us for an unforgettable safari timed to coincide with one of nature’s most dramatic events: the wildebeest calving season, set in the pristine backdrop of Mara’s conservancies — far from the crowds of the Main Reserve.

Here, you’ll witness thousands of wildebeest giving birth on the open plains, along with the Big Cat Predators who follow them, in this stunning Circle of Life!

Expect thrilling encounters with lions on the hunt, cheetahs in high-speed pursuit, and leopards stalking silently for their prey. This is also prime time to see playful lion, leopard and cheetah cubs, with happy full bellies, learning the ways of the wild. Plus, elephants, giraffes, zebras, countless birds and more, dot the landscape to deliver exceptional photographic and viewing opportunities.

We’ve carefully selected boutique camps in the hearts of the conservancies, with expert photographic guides, to give you the most intimate and rewarding wildlife experiences possible.

ITINERARY:

DAY 1: ARRIVE NAIROBI
Arrive Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by our guides who will escort you to your hotel for your overnight stay. Service is our specialty. We’re with you every step of the way so you can relax and enjoy your adventure!

Optional: For an additional fee, guests may arrive early in the day, or the night before, to enjoy Nairobi’s top attractions, including Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s elephant nursery and The Giraffe Centre.

DAYS 2, 3 & 4: OLARE MOTOROGI CONSERVANCY
Begin your journey in Mara’s Olare Motorogi Conservancy, a land of exceptional beauty, with enchanted forests and a remarkable concentration of wildlife—especially big cats. Cheetahs enjoy an unusually high survival rate here, and the area is home to some of the Mara’s most iconic leopards, including Figlet, Furaha, and Faulu (daughters of the legendary Fig), as well as Tito, Natito, and Akira. Set out early to capture stunning silhouettes, and stay out late to witness nocturnal wildlife in action! Bush breakfasts, scenic sundowners, and guided walking safaris are available to enhance your safari and give provide a deeper connection to Nature.

DAYS 5 & 6: MARA NORTH CONSERVANCY
Set along the winding Mara River, this private conservancy offers breathtaking vistas and expansive landscapes that rival The National Reserve…. but without all the crowds and minivans! We always seem to stumble upon honeymooning lions here — it must be the romance in the air! It’s also the favorite territory of Nalangu the leopard — a real show-girl! — and Kweli the cheetah. (If a Hot Air Balloon Ride Safari is on your bucket list, this is the perfect place. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular!)

DAYS 7, 8 & 9: NABOISHO CONSERVANCY
The grand finale! Naboisho offers one of the most exclusive safari experiences in Africa. With its high concentration of wildlife and low density of tourists, you’ll enjoy up-close and intimate wildlife encounters – day and night. The Conservancy is home to an impressive number of big cats — including the highest density of lions in all of Africa. While we can’t say “always” — there are always cubs here!!! Plus leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and more. Here, the Loita Wildebeests give birth to their calves on Naboisho’s open plains. It’s a grand spectacle, a photographer’s dream, and a stirring finale to your safari adventure.

DAY 10: DEPART
After a final game drive through Naboisho Conservancy, fly back to Nairobi and onward or home.

3. They often have higher concentrations of wildlife than the National Parks.
4. Off-Road Driving is permitted, enabling intimate encounters and stunning photographic opportunities.
5. Vehicles are limited to 4 or 5 per sighting to protect the wildlife from the “mob scenes” you may see in the parks.

It’s a magnificent and powerful way to support Kenya’s people and animals!

Before conservancies were created, animals outside the protected areas of the parks suffered serious decline due to human-wildlife conflict. Now, since landowners collect income from the conservancy fees and lodges, they no longer think of wildlife as a nuisance or a threat to their livestock, but something valuable that needs to be conserved and protected. As a result, the animals’ populations in these areas are thriving. And because conservancies also support schools and hospitals, the communities are thriving too!
